There are a number of eyelid conditions and diseases that we can treat with ocular plastic surgery. Many of these procedures are not just cosmetic procedures, but are essential treatments to maintain unobstructed sight. With age the tissues around the eyes can lose their elasticity and cause the eyelids to interfere with the incoming light and its passage through the pupil. Eyelid lift surgery or blepharoplasty is the procedure used to correct this issue. Sometimes the eyelid may sag as the result of a flaccid tendon or muscle that normally elevates the lid to clear the pupil. This procedure also improves vision function by shortening the tendon and muscle structure so that the eyelid does not interfere with the upper field of vision. This procedure is called ptosis.

Oculoplastic surgery procedures can include the following:

Blepharoplasty

Eye lift surgery to eliminate excess skin and bags

Ptosis Repair

Correction of drooping eyelids

Entropion Repair

Correction of eyelids that turn inwards

Ectropion Repair

Correction of eyelids that turn outwards

Latisse™ Eyelash Growth

Botox

Restylane

The physicians at LoBue Laser and Eye Medical Center perform these procedures at our local outpatient surgery center, Oaks Surgery Center or in the office (Restylane and Botox). You are able to go home directly following your procedure since in most cases only mild sedation is used and then local anesthesia is applied to the operative area to ensure total patient comfort. Home care consists of keeping your head elevated, application of antibiotic ointment, and applying ice packs to keep swelling to a minimum.
